Dear Ladies and Gentleman,
We would like to introduce our NGO – LIGHT UP AFRICA to you.
Our main focus is providing Primary Health Care and Education (Children with special needs, aged, people living with disability)
We are currently based in Akropong and are now extending our services to all the communities and villages in the Akuapem Municipality in Ghana. We wish to further expand our primary health care delivery and education in order to cover the whole country within five years – depending on the support and assistance we receive. Through our community work we meet a ten month old baby Okanta who has hydrocephalous and baby Papa Yeboah Adu a three year child with special needs and hermaphrodite who needs surgical intervention and support for family for his upkeep and care.
Baby Ocanta: part of the money will be used to acquire Ventriculoperitoneal Shunt (VP Shunt). VP is a device used to relieve pressure from the brain caused by fluid accumulation. VP shunting is a surgical procedure that is primarily used to treat hydrocephalous. Little Emmanuel Okanta , once adored by all, and now shunned by many cries all day with frequent convulsion attack.
Baby Papa Yeboah Adu: is a special need child. He is blind, cannot hear, cannot eat , and has mobility impairment and constantly vomits after eating heavy food. Since birth the only food he has sustained on is cerelac. He is also a hermaphrodite. He can be given life, hope and happiness just like any other child.
